Loaves & Fishes Summer Food Drive

During the December holiday season, SofterWare, like many companies, participates in a food drive. We collect all sorts of non-perishable food items, diapers, etc., and donate them to the Loaves & Fishes food pantry  in Hatboro, PA.  Last time we were there, they said their most needy time is actually the summer. Kids are out of school, and the demand shoots up.  So Eleanor Stasio, Director of Implementation, Kathy Piunti, Vice President for Human Resources, and Joshua Gardner, DonorPerfect Program Manager, coordinated our first ever summer food drive.  It came just in the nick of time.  When they delivered over 350 pounds of food collected from the employees of SofterWare in mid-July, Loaves & Fishes told us their shelves were empty!  They had already turned away 22 families.

When Joshua, Kathy and Eleanor heard this, they decided to ask SofterWare employees at our monthly Second Friday company meeting if people would continue to donate food every six weeks – winter, spring, summer and fall. Everyone I saw raised their hands to indicate “Yes” we’ll continue to give. We look forward to a long relationship.
