Blood Drive Includes Double Red Donation

SofterWare completed its third blood drive in less than a year, with 19 people donating blood. This included our CEO, Doug Schoenberg, who signed up for a double red cell donation. What’s that you say? Well, I had to look it up too. According the Red Cross:

Double red cell donation is similar to a whole blood donation, except a special machine is used to allow you to safely donate two units of red blood cells during one donation while returning your plasma and platelets to you.

Doug Schoenberg, SofterWare CEO, gives a double red cell blood donation.

We also had a competition between two co-workers, Sheila and Val, as to which of them could give blood faster. Sheila had the record of 6 minutes, then Val swooped in with a 5 1/2 minute SofterWare record!  They both received valuable prizes for people who just gave blood: cookies and drinks, and the satisfaction of knowing they provided a much-needed blood donation!

Val Dillard, SofterWare record holder with the fastest time to give blood: 5 minutes 30 seconds!
